Windows Driver Error 1275 Displayed When Running Epic Games Battleye Anti-Cheat. [Fortnite]

Windows driver error 1275 is displayed when trying to run a game using Epic Games Battleye Anti-Cheat Protection Software. [Necessary to run the game Fortnite.]

Epic is researching the issue related to the Windows Core Isolation [Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection] security protocol.

Enabling this option in Windows settings will not allow BEDaisy.sys [a core Battleye component] to run.

Currently the only [temporary] fix is to disable Core Islotation:

    - Click the "Disable" button in the Windows pop-up dialog window if displayed and reboot the system.

    - Click on the Windows "Start Menu" icon and type "core isolation" into the search box, click the "system setting" icon, this will open the related Windows Defender Security setting window.

    - Click to disable the Kernel-Mode Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection option.

- Reboot the system and the issue should resolved until a patch is released where you can re-enable this option.

Epic Games notes that disabling this service the does not lower the security of the system, or expose it to greater risks as it was a feature that was previously disabled by default.

We hope this issue will be permanently resolved in the near future.

Quick post: It appears the Western Digital [HD Manufacturer] software is at fault.

Confirmed. Uninstalling Western Digital Utilities resolved the issue.

Note: Problem only became apparent after another brand drive [Samsung] was installed on the system.

Getting Burnout Paradise: Remastered To Run On Windows 10 With Nvidia Graphic Cards:

Electronic Arts will gladly take your money while ignoring the fact Burnout Paradise: Remastered won't initially run on Windows 10.

 

The Problem:

The game crashes to desktop during startup.

The Issue:

The game is coded to recognize older/non supported graphic cards.

The Resolution:

Instructions for Nvidia; the instructions for AMD/Radeon should be similar.

1) Download, Install [if not already present], and Run the free Nvidia Control Panel (different from GeForce Experience).

2) Select "Manage 3D Settings".  [Click the image below to enlarge.]

    Click the "Program Settings" tab.

    Click the box shown below the "Select a program to customize".

    Locate the game.  Note: I have Steam installed; the full path would be:

   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BurnoutPR

    (you would then select the BurnoutPR.exe) 

    (C:\Program Files (x86) is also common location usually within the game company's folder.)

 

 

    Click "Add".

    The option to run with the "High Performance Nvidia Processor" should already be selected.

Close the Nvidia Control Panel it will save the changes.

The game should run now.*

 

*It should be noted some people have mentioned having to initially run it twice; the game may crash immediately after making this change; but will run fine after that.

Worse comes to worst, restart the computer.

Fallout 4 Intermittent Crash To Desktop Under Windows 10

[edit to include the version of Fallout 4 running is 1.3 Beta.]


Problem:
Fallout 4 would launch fine one day, then crash after the launch menu on another.
Literally; nothing was changed (No Mods added/deleted, no updates whatsoever.)

Solution:
Right-clicking the Fallout.exe
[Usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4]

Select "Properties".
Select the "Compatibility" tab.
Under "Compatibility Mode", choose "Windows 7":

Previous troubleshooting involved:
* Restarting the computer.

* Verifying the integrity of the local game files on Steam.
(Right-click Fallout 4 in your Steam Library, select "Properties", then "Local Files")

* Renaming or Moving the Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Prefs.ini, and the Fallout4Prefs_Custom.ini files to another folder. (The game creates new default ones if they are missing.) 

Note: The files are usually located in C:\Users\{username]\Documents\my games\Fallout4.


Note: The files may not have '.ini' after them, and 'Fallout4Prefs_Custom' may not exist for older versions.









* Disabling Mods [if installed].

* Updating Windows, video card drivers, Fallout 4 itself.

Windows 10: No Network Access.

Quick FYI; After extensive troubleshooting -the issue was resolved by unchecking protocols on both the Ethernet and then WiFi adapters (card properties) resolving both issues in turn.

Will include screenshots, and better explanation in the future.

Checked protocols:

For a standard [Home] connection, these protocols are checked, others had caused the connection interruption.

Windows 7 Pro Single / Dual Monitor Display / Power Issue:

On some systems a BIOS setting can prevent video display on a single monitor. -This usually happens after a secondary monitor was disconnected.

Disabling the Smart Connect Technology option allows single monitor operation again.

[Asrock Motherboard using HDMI or DVI to HDMI through an adaptor.]

Macintosh Keychain Repeatedly Prompts For Access To Confidential Information…

Symptom:
The Mac computer continually [every power-up, reboot, or when the program is ran] asks for permission for an application to access a keychain.

Possible Cause:
The password is flagged to prompt every-time an application requests it.

Please Note:

This is a safety check put in place to protect the system from potential harm from unsafe programs.

Use this solution only if you are familiar with both the application or process which is asking, and the password it is requesting; as this will grant permanent permission.



Possible Solution:

Allow the application permanent access to the password:
(This is assuming the “Always Allow” option was tried previously.)

[Note: 1Password is shown for demonstration purposes only, choose the actual password and application/process appearing in your dialog box….] 

1.) Open Keychain Access from the Utilities folder [found within the Applications folder].

2.) Select the password referenced in your pop-up dialog box:

4.) Click “Access Control” in the pop-up box, and;

Mac OS X Mountian Lion (10.8) System Preferences Control Panel Won’t Open

Symptom:
Upon clicking the desired control panel, System Preferences displays a drop down message “To use the preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen.”

- Clicking “OK” restarts System Preferences, however the drop down message reappears again. And again….

Possible Cause:
System Preferences is attempting to open a 64-bit preference pane in 32-bit mode.




Possible Solution:
1.) Close System Preferences if running.

2.) Right-click [or Control-click] on System Preferences, move to highlight “Options”, and select “Show in Finder”. [ If System Preferences isn’t in the dock, locate it in the Applications folder. ]

3.) Right-click [or Control-click] on System Preferences, and select “Get Info”.

4.) Un-check “Open in 32-bit mode”.

5.) Close the System Preferences Info box, and you’re done!

Xfinity / Comcast Webmail And Secure Website Issue

Symptom: 
The [secure] web page times-out with an "error 7" or "server not responding" when attempting to access Xfinity / Comcast website email (webmail) or some secure web sites - While using an Arris "Dory" cable-modem gateway model TG862G.


Possible Cause: 
Bad Arris "Dory" Cable-modem Gateway Firmware. (Model TG862G - as indicated on the lower front panel).


Possible Solution: 
1.) Reset the gateway*
2.) Replace the device.

*At this time, no firmware update is available; resetting will not correct the problem.

RESETTING THE DEVICE MAY CHANGE YOUR SSID (NETWORK NAME) AND/OR YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK PASSWORD.


To reset, you'll need to press the recessed button inside the back panel and hold it in for 30 seconds. The factory settings will be restored.
Note the factory SSID (network name) and password are on the sticker on the bottom of the device.

Verifying the firmware can be accomplished by entering 10.0.0.1 as a URL into your browser, using admin and password to access the Dory when prompted, then clicking Connection followed by Xfinity Network from the left hand margin; and scrolling down to Cable Modem.



Note: The SMC "Dory" is NOT experiencing this issue.
